Went to Glacier NP in end of July for my daughter's birthday. The weather was perfect during this time. We kayaked on Lake McDonald in the morning. It was serene and calm with not too many people. More people came later in the day. Would recommend going early. The park had a nice combination of restaurants, gift shops, hotel accomodations and launching pads. The lake itself was beautiful to be on. You can see the mountains and beauty much better from the water.
A double kayak was available to rent in the middle of the day on a Saturday in July. It got moderately windy and we improvised a sail with sticks and wet tshirts 😅 …
Lake McDonald is a local favorite, and after doing tons of sessions and elopements at this spot I can't say enough just how beautiful it is! The water is freaking cold, but people do swim, kayak, and paddle board here all the time. Best Sunsets ever!

Loved this place.. it was so redeeming. The weather was a bit chilly for it being summer but the view and the serene beauty of it justified the entire trip!
One of the most iconic locations in Glacier National Park and for good reason. It’s super easy to access being right next to the airport and the west entrance. It’s absolutely stunning with clear waters and colorful rocks. The sunset views are unbeatable with the lake reflection and gorgeous orange sunshine. A must see if you’re visiting the park.
Beautiful scenery. We went here first week of June so the mountains still had snow. The reflection of the mountains on the lake were breathtaking. Make sure to rent a boat to enjoy the views!
Gorgeous views, clear blue water, and some of the freshest air you’ll breathe. We rented kayaks and spent a few hours paddling the shores on a relatively windy day. It was worth it, but in retrospect probably would’ve rented on a different lake or stream in the park. Ended up stopping along the southern shore and swimming, which was great. Cold, but great. The views of the lake driving up GTS road are phenomenal as well. Overall, worth checking out from the Apgar area. Consider a kayak or boat rental, but be prepared for some wind. And definitely get out for a swim, weather permitting.
